Gold Sea Urchin

Shperical vessel 10cm diameter. Sculpted texture and pinched fins added.

The glaze was one entitled Odd Shino! The technitian couldn't work out quite what went wrong, but it came out as a grey green satin glaze. I Use a lot of silicon carbide in my work to add texture. I'm too lazy to acurately measure amounts of sc added to various glazes, so I tend to press sc into leather hard clay, brush it on as a soloution onto the bisque fired ware before glazing or mix random amounts into small volumes of glaze. With this one I brushed it on as a solution under the Odd Shino and it came out as a glittering gold colour. Unfortunately as my methods are somewhat haphazard the next time I tried it, it came out as a dull oatmeal! Oh well, just makes the successes even more precious!
